Privacy policy
Last updated: 5 August 2026
The Cute Clothing Company ("we", "us") is a UK family-run business that turns your child's photo into personalised clothing. Because our service involves photos of children, we take privacy especially seriously. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and when it is deleted. We are the data controller for the personal information described here.
What we collect
To create and deliver your order we collect: your contact and delivery details (name, email, address, phone); payment confirmation (payments are processed securely by Shopify Payments — we never see or store your card details); and the personalisation you give us, which may include your child's photo, first name, age, interests and design notes. Like most websites we also collect basic device and usage information (IP address, browser, pages visited) through cookies and similar technologies.
Your child's photo
The photo you upload is used for one purpose only: creating and fulfilling your personalised order. By uploading a photo you confirm you are the child's parent or guardian, or have their parent or guardian's permission.
- We never sell customer photos or share them for marketing.
- We never use your photos to train public AI models.
- We only show a child's finished artwork in our own marketing if you have given us explicit permission.
- Original photos are automatically deleted 90 days after your order is delivered, unless you ask us to delete them sooner (email us any time) or ask us to keep them for a repeat order.
Why we process your information (lawful bases)
We process your order, contact and personalisation details because they are necessary to perform our contract with you (creating and delivering your order). We process your child's photo on the basis of your consent as their parent or guardian, which you can withdraw at any time by asking us to delete it. We use basic device and usage data under our legitimate interest in running and improving a secure store, and we keep order records where the law (for example tax law) requires it.
Who helps us process it
Trusted service providers process your information on our behalf and on our instructions: Shopify (store hosting, checkout and payments), secure cloud storage and email services used to receive your photo and send your design proof, our design tools used to create your child's artwork, and our print and delivery partners (who receive the finished artwork and delivery address — never the original photo beyond what is printed). We do not sell personal information to anyone.
How long we keep things
Original uploaded photos: deleted 90 days after delivery (or sooner on request). Finished artwork: kept with your order record so we can offer reprints and replacements. Order and transaction records: kept for 6 years as required by UK tax law. Marketing emails: until you unsubscribe (every email has an unsubscribe link).
Children
Our store is for adults to buy from — we do not knowingly accept orders or collect information directly from anyone under 18. We process children's images and first names only as part of an order placed by an adult who has confirmed they are the child's parent or guardian or have parental permission.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to access, correct, delete or transfer your personal information, object to or restrict our processing, and withdraw consent (including for your child's photo) at any time. Email us and we will act promptly — we will never treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), though we would love the chance to put things right first.
International transfers
Some of our service providers (such as Shopify) may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are protected by recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK-approved Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the store and checkout to work, plus analytics and advertising cookies to understand how the site is used and to measure our ads. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings and any cookie preferences shown on our site. To learn more about how Shopify uses personal information, visit privacy.shopify.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and the date at the top, and for significant changes we will let you know by email.
